Blue Sky On York Beach
I think its great for York, ME to finally have a restaurant that takes pride in serving innovative food and drink. Believe it or not they actually serve food past 9 p.m. unlike other restaurants in this town. The food is always 90% better than food I've had elsewhere in York, but thats not saying much, as its a challenge to find FLAVOR in a lot of New England restaurants.
What I really love about this place is the BAR (and oh yes, I love their decor). It is so REFRESHING to drink real drinks. I hate mixes, sour mix, fake juices and such. If I'm paying $10 or so for a cocktail I want juice squeezed from fresh friggin' lemons. I want something interesting, that surely will leave me thinking "DAMN this is a good drink". This is why I love Blue Sky's bar.
I started off by having a Pain Killer made with Pusser's Navy Rum, creme of coconut, orange and pineapple juice topped with fresh grated nutmeg. All I have to say is yum, yum, YUM. My mouth is salivating like crazy just thinking about it.
Next my friends and I split a few snacks, Margherita Pizza, a "Pizza of Pink Meatballs, Scamorza, Fennel and Fennel Pollen"", and "Ravioli of Native 'Sugar 'n Butter' Sweet Corn with Mascarpone with fried Swiss Chard Leaves. Starting with the Margherita Pizza I felt there was too much tomato sauce (the crust was soggy from sauce) and appeared to have no basil whatsoever. The Meatball pizza was delicious! Best meatballs I've had in ages. The ravioli were way too small to share between 3 people, a decent portion, yet so freaking a delicious you want your own plate to your self.
Other drinks I sampled through the evening were:
Lydia's Mai Tai- The best I've had ever due to the delicious balance between Bacardi, Mount Gay and Myers rums, almond syrup, pineapple and fresh lime juice.
Cucumber Cocktail- Hendrix Gin, Cointreau, fresh lime and mint with the essence of cucumber- so refreshing that I almost had to steal this drink away from my boyfriend.
York Beach Lemonade- Maine blueberry puree, Absolut, fresh squeezed lemon juice finished with soda water. A great chick drink.
So if you are looking for the best drinks in York, Maine and good, interesting food, try Blue Sky. Definitely not cheap but a beautiful place to be seen and dine and drink the fabulous way.

The Stolen Menu Cafe
They may be on the pricey side-escpecially for breakfast-but they definitely serve the best breakfast in York, Maine. The Stolen Menu Cafe is located in a strip mall near the center of the tiny historic beach town of York. This town is a destination for older people and families, hence there are many options when it comes to breakfast joints.
When Auntie is buying I usually go for the Classic Breakfast Sandwich- two tasty organic eggs, with white American cheese and sausage. It may not be healthy, but I've had breakfast sandwiches from almost all of York's breakfast eateries and The Stolen Menu has the best.
I also sampled their bacon and cheese grits. I really appreciate a restaurant in the North East especially as North as York to serve up some good ol' grits. I wouldn't say they were the best in Maine... but creamy and good.
I'm going to sound like a pig, however I also ate a grilled raspberry mocha chocolate chip muffin. Grilled? Hell yes it was grilled! York, ME is the only place I've ever been that grills muffins and it makes the inside of your muffin toasty, warm and buttery. As for the taste of the muffin: lots of chocolate chips- I don't always need a chocolate bar for breakfast but good mocha flavor, not enough raspberry.
The End.
